There's some disagreement about when the first prop chicken was used to be funny — some say it was Joseph Grimaldi, a clown performing in the early 1800s who first brought one to the stage. Some claim soldiers hung rubber chickens from their muskets for good luck during the French Revolution. Whatever the case — rubber chickens are both silly and kind of scarey which is why we prefer these teeny tiny versions... they're just silly and cute! A rubber chicken in every birthday card!
